If there’s one thing we as consumers want more and more, it’s convenience—and if there’s a company that truly understands that, it’s Amazon!

Not long ago, the American e-commerce giant introduced Amazon Key—a service that allows Amazon to deliver packages inside your front door, even when you’re not home.

This is possible through a combination of their Cloud Camera and a range of smart locks. The delivery process starts with Amazon verifying that the right Amazon employee is at the right place at the right time with the right delivery. This uses an encrypted authentication process. Once completed, the Cloud Camera starts recording, and your door will unlock just long enough for the Amazon employee to place your package inside and leave.

As if that service wasn’t wild enough, Amazon has now expanded with Amazon Key In-Car. Here, the same authentication process begins, but instead of letting Amazon into your home, you temporarily open your car’s trunk, so your package can be delivered there – even while you’re at work.

With the In-Car service, you get a four-hour delivery window, and your car must be parked in a public parking space no more than two blocks from the address you provided when ordering.

To access this innovative service, you must be an Amazon Prime member living in one of 37 selected cities in the USA, and initially, Amazon Key In-Car will only be available to owners of newer Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac cars. Although the service isn’t available in Europe yet, it’s surely only a matter of time.
